Good FM transmitter for iPhone 3G?

Hi Everyone -

Sorry if this is posted somewhere else, I looked through the forum for a similar topic - but couldn't get through all the pages.

I'm looking for a good FM transmitter that will work with the new iPhone - does anyone have any suggestions or success with something they are using? Is there even one out on the market now?Would love to listen to music in the car again (instead of the same 6 cds over and over again...). Would appreciate any help! 🙂

Oh - also, I'd love a transmitter that was also a dock so I don't go fumbling for the thing in traffic 🙂

Thanks!!

Mac OS X (10.4.11)

DLO Intellisync has one that's built for the iPhone now.

Note that the reason most FM Transmitters are (terrible) is because of other FM transmitters that have more wattage pumped out than the transmitter can take over.

Sometimes I'm listening to my hard rock music and then someone comes around and turns it to classic music, then goes away and goes back to hard rock music.

Then stopped under a traffic light with an FM transmitter and picking up something else.

The best one I've found and the one I use almost daily is the Monster FM transmitter and it will charge it as well, they are kind of expensive but work better than the others I've seen. My sister has bought several other transmitters from several types of Belkins to no name brands and mine is better than all of them (most of hers have broke of produce too much static). So, if you want the best, try any of the FM transmitters by Monster.

I agree, I think the FM transmitter you are referring to is:

It's small, portable, and charges the iPhone. It's not going to be fancy but it does its job with great sound clarity. Best to use the lower frequency or find a station that has limited signal.

If you prefer a hands-free kit, the "All Kit" which is also the "Canadian Drive Safe" is a popular alternative. I wouldn't call anything "Fake" for an FM Transmitter as there's no such thing, it's a marketing gimmick. It's not like a "Fake" Louis Vuitton bag or "Fake" Nike. They're all made in the same place. However, the sound clarity is decent but it charges your phone and holds it powered by your cigarette adapter.

Here are a few sites that carries them:

I have tried quite a few FM adapters over the years and every one of them was pathetic (DLO, Belkin, Monster, etc.). Probably out a few hundred bucks. Cassette adapter is hands down better. If you don't have cassette, try one of the adapters that connect to the head unit of your car - these will provide the best possible sound (and possibly some control). FM adapters are a scam if you live in/near a city or within 100 miles of the Mexican border (because Mexico can transmit radio at whatever power level it wants).
Unless you have a car with a MOST BUS the adapters made for head units should have one for your car.
I have a BMW with a factory IPOD adapter, which with the software update (for the car) and the new IPOD cable (first cables recalled) provides full control including charging on everything but the iPhone 3G - it just won't charge the 3G. Lots of problems with legacy devices charging the 3G.

hey
i use this one for my iphone 3g and ipod nano (the newest one) and its only 10 bucks, better than the expensive ones out there, far better and it does not give me any static problems

http://cgi.ebay.com/FOR-APPLE-iPOD-NANO-LCD-FM-TRANSMITTER-CAR-CHARGER-NEWW0QQitemZ370244314049QQcmdZViewItemQQptZOther_MP3_Player_Accessories?hash=item56 3447e3c1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14#ht_2456wt1039

it charges the phone/ipod as well, and i am very happy with it, no fiddiling needed with aux switches and stuff like that, just plug and play

the sound quality is amazing as well, sounds about 98.5 percent like a cd would
