iTunes shows 1 app update available, none found

In iTunes, it has a 1 next to Applications on the left column, showing that there is 1 update available. When I goto the Applications screen, it also says '1 Update Available' in the lower right corner.

However, when I click on the link, it says my account has no updates available.

Does anyone know how to get rid of this erroneous update?

I finally figured out how to fix this.
As some people suspected, this issue is clearly related to the applications that changed their names.
But it looks like the case is very random.
For example, I didn't have any problem with Jawbreaker (which is now reMovem). But the application that caused my problem was AP Mobile News Network (which was Mobile News Network before).
However, here is the solution I came up with:

1. First select all the applications in your iTunes Applications tap (Command+A) and delete them (Command+Delete). Then iTunes will ask you if you want to keep the files or trash them.
2. Press "Keep Files" button. Now check your "Mobile Applications" folder under ~/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications. All of your applications will be still there.
(Don't worry if you trashed them. They will be still there. Just pull them out of the trash can and move them to Mobile Applications folder.)
3. Your Application tab in the iTunes is empty now.
4. Drag and drop applications in the "Mobile Applications" folder one by one on the Applications tab window in your iTunes.
5. When you drop an application that caused the problem, you will soon see the number beside the Applications tab. Then delete this application completely from your iTunes. (Trash it!)
6. Now you can just visit AppStore again and download the application again. Your problem will never happen again.

Hope this helps.

Its BAAAAAAACCKKKK!

I've now tried the plist hack below, and tried to remove the files with 1.ipa extensions....and I still have this stupid itunes update error telling me usernam()currently no updates available. Be nice if the people who obviously worked on mobile me were removed from the apple organization and we got back to quality control.

heres what fixed it for me...

I have 2 accounts with itunes. I must have downloaded some of the applications with my one account and the rest with my current account. When you log into your account with iTunes and then sync to see if there are any updates.. iTunes will only look for applications that you have downloaded with the currently logged in account. The other apps that you downloaded with the other/older account will not be displayed as an available update but you will see the (1) or whatever number listed beside applications.

To fix it all you need to do is log into itunes with your other account. Update your applications there (better way would be to just delete them and redownload them with the account you actually use if they are free anyways) and then the (1) will disappear.

hope that helps
