My iPod had been working perfectly fine for a couple of months now. It has 80GB. When I plugged it in today, it had a popup that said my iPod is corrupt and needs to be restored or replugged. I did this for about 10 times and each time a pop up says: The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1439).
Do any Apple employees even go through these forums?
I've been waiting for like, 7 months for someone to help me fix it and no, I'm not going to an apple store and get charged 70 bucks so someone can help me fix a problem who's solution seems non-existent!
Man, thank you so much for your post! Just wanted to let you know that your post alone saved me all those hours you wish you hadn't spent. So thank you for being a kind soul and posting your fix here in hopes to save others from that headache!
Crazy that switching to another USB port would make this issue go away, but that's technology for ya!
My iPod is having the exact same problem, and its the Ipod as yours, a classic, with the same Model No. and EMC. No as the one you posted. There is alot of solutions on the page, so could you tell me which one worked for you? I've had no luck so far.
I've tried syncing on 4 different computers with two different cables, and this continues to happen. I've formatted, restored uncountable amounts of times.
iPod worked fine for a YEAR until I updated to latest version of Itunes, now even downgrading Itunes doesnt fix the issue.
I've resorted to purchasing a different product altogether, due to Apple's lack of support. I traveled quite a distance and took time out of my weekend schedule to travel the the genius bar once, and they 'couldn't see me' because i was 15 minutes late.
Thanks Fadge, I tried everything else that people suggested, and your solution was the one that actually worked. I was trying different things for over a week before I found your post. Thanks, again.
I don't get the error code, but it did say it was corrupted. I have the newest iPod classic...6th generation? And iTunes 8. So, I don't know what's going on with my iPod. It shuts down when I play the original games at times, and now it freezes when I skip songs. I don't know what's wrong with it, and I want to talk to Support soon about what I can do. My sister has the iPhone, and she had to get a new one because it was malfunctioning. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have been restoring it, but nothing has changed. I tried pasting the .dll code into Notepad and now I'm seeing if it works. I just bought this iPod in April, so it's very new and I'm already frustrated with it. Even though it is better than my old Sansa, it's acting up. Help me?
I can't believe it! I wasted time going through Help [must be opposite day as it sure didn't mention anything close]. then i searched through topics and found iPod corrupt. I was discouraged as the main page said problem NOT solved. But i started at the beginning and waded through two pages of frustrated and annoyed comments. then i decided to start at the back and found this wonderful, simple, supernatural solution. I remembered that i had used a different USP port. I went back to the old one and synched both my iPods.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
About a month ago when I got back from a holiday I tried synching my iPod (latest 80gb model), and I noticed that some of the songs skipped entirely, as in, I would play them, and it would just move on to the next track instantly.
I did the "5Rs" and tried to resynch the library, but now I cannot synch my iPod at all without it crashing after a few songs, and I'm pretty sure it's a problem with my iPod because my Mum's iPod synched perfectly with my library.
If it helps I went into the Diagnostics part of my iPod and got some hard drive readings:
