Printing notes in the Address Book

I would like to print a page including the notes in the address book for a particular addressee. The style in the print window lists only mailing labels, envelopes, lists or pocket addresses, none of which prints out the notes in a line by line format as shown on the screen page in the address book. I have been highlighting the entire name address, etc. with the notes and transferring it to a word processing file for printing or have been snapping a picture of the page with the command + shift + F-3 keys but these seem to be awkward solutions to what should be a straight forward print job. What am I doing wrong?

PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I don't think that you are doing anything wrong.

The best mode seems to be lists - Pocket Address Book doesn't include the notes.

Well, your profile says you're running 10.4.5, so if that's true, you're in the wrong forum and you should update to 10.4.11 right away.

But in Address Book, if you're printing a List, there should be a scroll window below that lets you choose which fields to print on that list, and Note is one of the choices, at least for me. Do you have that in your version of Address Book?

Sorry about reversing those last two digits--I am running OS X 10.5.4. Under "Attributes" I do have notes which I checked. But then under "Styles" I have only four choices: "Mailing Labels," "Envelopes," "Lists" and "Pocket Address Book" none of which allows a line by line print out of the notes the way they appear on the screen.

They may not print exactly as they appear in Address Book, but if you choose Lists, which is the only one that gives you those options, you should have no trouble printing the Note field if you select it.

But it prints in two columns with a huge space between them. But apparently the paste routine into a word processing application is the way I must go. Seems like a waste to do all that clicking but I guess that's life.

There may be a wide gap between the columns, but that's only because you haven't chosen any additional fields to print, which is your choice, of course. If you were to choose Name, Address, Email, or Note, along with Phone, you'd have 3 columns. Unfortunately, there's no other way around that issue.

Thanks. I am afraid I will just have to use the paste method into a word processing file to get the notes on a line by line format. Seems odd for this not to be a choice in the "Style" drop down menu but maybe that will be a fix for a later edition. Meanwhile, its comforting to know that I'm not missing anything. Again thanks.

That's been my frustration as well. I wanted to pdf all my contact info to carry with me on a USB key in case I needed something from the Note section. The iPhone truncates the note section to about the first 2,500 characters. So if you have contacts with long Notes you've got a problem. I thought a had a work-around, but pdf'ing the Contacts didn't work because it won't print more than 1 page per contact and prints the partial Note in two narrow columns, truncating the rest of the Note. I can't believe more people haven't complained about this. Before migrating to Address Book (I used Outlook), I made extensive use of the Note section.
