Outlook tasks CAN sync to your iPhone... I have a solution!

OK.. So we all are disgusted with Apple's lack of task synchronization with Outlook. The only glimpse of this functionality is Chapura's proposed KeyTasks, which costs $10 PER YEAR, and isnt even out yet!

HOWEVER, those who do NOT want to go under contract, or do NOT WANT TO WAIT for this release, I have an excellent solution... Granted, it's only useful on Windows as far as I know, but it definitely works seemlessly.

Here's the run down.. Todo app($10), Toodledo account(free), ToodledoSync(free).

You'll need to buy the "Todo" app from the appstore, as it is the only task app that provides any kind of sync capabilities.. (It's a very well put together app as well.. very iphone friendly with direct links in the tasks to go to a website, or to call someone, etc.)

Next, set up a free account with at http://www.toodledo.com and sync the account in Todo.

Then, go here: http://www.chromadrake.com/ChromaticDragon/software/ToodledoSyncInfo.aspx for the sync software between Toodledo and Outlook. You can set the program to periodically sync Outlook and Toodledo.

In Outlook, you should also disable the security setting in "Tools--> Trust Center--> Programmatic Access" and set the option to "NEVER warn"... Without this, every time ToodledoSync tries to sync you'd get an annoying warning message that a program is trying to access your email.

Well, that's that.... and let me just say "you're welcome" in advance!

I think this may actually be the quickest growing post on this website.

What seems to have happened is that so many people are now using this method with the ToodledoSync, that the app is pinging the Toodledo servers multiple times per second. Now, consider that over 3300 views already of this single forum post, and how many of these views people actually follow through it and use this method, thats alot of action going though the Toodledo servers. I'm pretty sure they didnt expect a huge spike in service from the iPhone such as this.

So they added filters that if you cause too much activity, your service is blocked for the remainder of the hour and can sync again after. The filter is put up so all this iPhone syncage (yes, syncage) doesnt crash or slow up their servers. Clever Toodledo, clever...

For the moment, Chromatic Dragon is developing a fix for this, but the current ToodledoSync will at least marginally work. I'm sure he'll fix this, as I've been seeing his pledge donations shoot up over the last week; so if you're very enthusiastic for having this fixed, I'd recommend pledging some donations to the developer..

Seems like this post is making alot of people happy... Toodledo, Appigo, and Chromatic Dragon are sure to be getting alot of business their way for this method. All cuz of little old me... I feel like i should get a prize!.... How bout a job? Lol... I'm finishing up my college career and i need a job! Hire me please!! i need moneys!

Spoke too soon... It's fixed. Version 9.8.4 "2008-08-09: Added safeguards against server floods. Fixed object null reference on startup"
