Ipod Touch frozen at apple logo screen

I try to turn on or reset my ipod and the apple logo appears and nothing happens. The ipod is not being recognized by itunes either? Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi since its halloween hers a scary thing that happened to ipod touch when viewing a random web page on ipod using safari the page may have jumped on a rogue link as i scrolled it , ithink it may have been a virus type redirecting maleware ? anyway i could not get rid even by clearing cach history etc ,everytimr i reconected the page came into view , ionly could shift it by restore /emptying the touch to (as new) which took about an hour then i had to install /update all my stuff,apps music etc ,there must be some sort of app that can be added to stop this happening again ?can any one help Can a virus pass from touch to pc (and back) please let me know thank you
ps the apple helpdesk said you can get viruses but they cant or wont recomend software/app to help - "just try the web for some" well iam sorry but it was doing just that that got me stuck! nice one help desk.
