Slow and not so accurate mouse

I noticed using my Mac mouse (A1152) in general is very slow and inaccurate compared to Windows mouse types. Do they make a really good mouse for a Mac computer?

Have you tried tweaking any of the sensitivity parameters? (Apple menu > system prefs > keyboard & mouse)

It's also possible that if you installed software to control another brand of mouse that that software might be getting in the way.

Just about any usb mouse should work fine with the Mini. But you do have configure the sensitivity. I generally get generic Logitech optical mice.

In my experience the only mouse control issues on the Mini that I have encountered had to do with one of these:

1) Inappropriate surface for optical mouse
2) Wrong mouse driver interfering
3) Wireless mouse with usb adapter
4) Wrong sensitivity settings in Keyboard & Mouse control panel

Theoretically a usb hub could also cause an issue, though I personally haven't experienced this.

Hello DP,

I'm not doing any backups at all. I'm pretty much just surfing the web. However, after talking to some people, it was suggested that I'm so used to using my laser mouse in a Windows environment, that it's affecting the feel of the Mac. Theyare both apples and oranges. I'll try a laser USB mouse and see what happens.

Thanks again folks,

The mouse you describe in your first post is a wired Mighty Mouse, which should not exhibit any unusually poor tracking or resolution characteristics in comparison to an optical mouse in the Windows environment. I use two of these on my iMacs, and indeed swapped over to them in preference to the Logitech Optical mice I'd used previously, and which I still use on my XP systems. Aside from having to make an initial adjustment to tracking and scrolling speed settings in the Mouse tab of the Keyboard & Mouse preference pane, there doesn't seem to me to be any control or resolution differences between either MM and the optical devices they replace.

There is no extra driver needed for this type of mouse - it should just work!

In the Mouse tab of the Keyboard & Mouse preference pane, does it correctly show the Mighty Mouse as the device connected?
