No Sender, No Subject

Here's an odd one:

I have an iPhone 3G with MobileMe. Since yesterday, I've been receiving an email message with no sender and no subject. This shows up on iPhone but not in Apple Mail or on MobileMe online. I delete the email and it reappears with a different time stamp.

I've deleted the MobileMe account and set it up again - but to no avail.

Any ideas?

I have been receiving same type of email as early as beginning of January 2009 and I could not configure Apple Mail to automatically block them. However I do not believe it is an iPhone exclusive issue since I do not own an iPhone; also, I never saw them before the .mac-mobile me conversion. Now I usually get rid of these strange visitors by marking the message as junk in Apple Mail application from my G4 desktop and mobile me will delete the message when it sync with my desktop. Still, I am unable to train Apple Mail to filter them out of my in box. Does anyone out there have a script for this until Apple sort the issue out?

I set up a new rule in Mail to fire these pesky e-mails right in my junk folder.

I created a rule new called No Subject, No Sender.

If all of the following conditions are met:

From is equal to (leave the field blank)
Subject is equal to (leave the field blank)

This seems to have done the trick. My iMac in my home office is always on and mail is always running so it seems to snag all of my junk mail before it gets passed along to my phone.

I too suspect that it is some sort of poorly formatted spam mail.

Cheers all.

How did you get Mail to accept that rule?

When I try that I get this error message: "At least one of the conditions has an empty expression field. Please fill in the field or remove the condition."

These messages are definitely spam. If you select the Long Headers view you can see the subject line and from where they are coming.

I started to recieve these emails to my MobileMe account around the same time my iPhone's battery started to drain for no apparent reason. I thought the battery problem was a hardware problem, but brang it to an Apple Store and the Genius found no hardware issues using their test. I restored my iPhone and the problem stopped.

I upgraded to 3.0 as a developer Tuesday night and Thursday I was noticing the same problem.
I was able to open the email using Me.com and found the long header and seeing it defiantly was spam. I know Apple tries to block spam coming into MobileMe. I wonder if they are having a problem where some spam messages are only being mostly deleted before being sent to me?

PS: I would recommend those getting these issues through MobileMe opening the long headers in me.com or your desktop mail browser and sending them to spam@me.com so they can see what is going on and sending feedback at apple.com/feedback Apple rarely read these discussions.
