I was really struggling with this as well, and looked at all 32 pages of this. I tried tilt, unmount from the command line, reset, etc.
Then I took a can of anti-dust spray (basically a blaster used to clean keyboards and electronic parts), jammed the wand into the SuperDrive opening, and blasted away back and forth along the opening. Voila! CD's are mounting again and I can continue to rip.
@Gigabite11 What was your trick to ge the Mac to mount a DVD?
If you look at the top it says (in response to...)
Yup problem for me to , have tried cleaning but to no avail, rubbish...
Left side (on its edge) so the slot is on top. Alas, this no longer works for me either, so I went out and bought an LG externbal that is supposedly Mac compatible, but I can't get the iMac to recognize this external drive so I can't even get the drive rinstaklled. Any help is greatly appreciated all...
Signed, No longer an Apple fan...
Very weird, but I found that just leaning my iMac 27 back allowed the super drive to read the disk...
Last straw, so many silly issues that are very common but not recognised by apple, as stated before many people finding problems with dvd's I am new to trying to watch them on my imac but this happened to me the first time I tried to use it, I bought an apple product for its image capabilities but as I say to many silly issues I have encountered with my phones ipads imac etc so back to pc and windows for me.
