Thank you so much! This solution worked flawlessly, unlike Apple's HP printer update from a month ago.
I actually have an HP 3425 printer that had the same issue when trying to share it via a time capsule (model series wouldn't show up in driver selection drop down *even though time capsule identified the model correctly*, "Print & Fax" preference pane wouldn't allow me to see the physical location of the driver that worked for it over USB, spent hours trying to squeeze functionality out of it).
Fussing with printer drivers is probably one of the worst experiences one can have on a computer, especially when the computer can find the driver fine over USB. It's fantastic that people have created drivers for these models that work better than what Apple/HP can provide. It's just a shame that Apple doesn't bundle these drivers with Mac OS X, if they can't handle the drivers themselves.
