Since updating to iTunes 7.1.1 my 2G iPhone (original) is not even recognized by my PC. When I connect it to the same USB port that I have used many times before to sync the iPhone, all I get is the "Device failed to connect" sound. There is no sign of the iPhone (or any unidentified USB connection) in My Computer.
I have purged my PC of all previous versions of iTunes and any other Apple software and have re-installed all of the necessary software to no avail.
I use Windows Vista Ultimate on a 1.66 gHz x 4 gByte Ram PC.
having similar issues. Using Windows XP. iPhone 3G is recognized in iTunes, but will not pop up under My Computer. This is kinda frustrating to try to upload pics from my phone to my PC. Any suggestions?
I have a similiar issue - it shows up in my computer as Apple Iphone and sometimes I can access it from there and other times I get an error. Sometimes shows up in Itunes but not for very long and I get the same error - device not recognised. Have Windows XP Professional.
Pretty much yank all of iTunes and apple mobile device support, restart, make sure the iPhone is disconnected and reinstall iTunes. It should show up in iTunes properly.
