Is there a way to enlarge/zoom pictures that will be playing in a slideshow?

Why not create your slideshow in iMovie and use the 'Ken Burns' effect.
However, if what you mean is the ability to zoom in on an image while a DVD is being played back the answer is probably no - it depends on the features your TV set might have. (Some TV set offer a zoom function.)
