Mac Pro Loud Fan Noise

Does anyone have the vacuum noise with the Mac Pro. The Fan runs 90% of the time on high and is so annoying I can't think straight. When I purchased it they said it was silent. It's anything but silent.
I recently ha the logic board and superdrive/optical replaced (superdrive sounded like a vacuum) - The
DVD plays more quiet than before but now the machine fans run constantly.

Any help would be appreciated.

Your welcome fredknack and blotch. I'm just glad I could get the word out to other people having this problem. I know how frustrating this was to me and quite frankly apple support could tell me nothing about my problem other than it was a hardware problem (even though the hardware test came back clean).

Just spread the Word because there are so many sites out there with people having the same problem!

Thanks,
SpechtME

Thanks, SpechtMe. Your response has solved the noise problem for me. I had the same dust build up on my video card as you did (and as exactly shown in link to the photo), so I bought a can of Dust Destroyer, blew away the dust and now for the last several hours there's hasn't been a noise problem. ****, what a relief. That noise was driving me crazy and keeping me from working at times. Thanks again.

Yep Guys, like this thread and many others, if the MACPRO sounds like a new airbus then its likely the fluff and dust build up in the GPU card and maybe elsewhere.
After reading a few of these threads, I followed the tried and true procedure of:
• buying at least 3-4 cans of compressed air/dust expeller or what ever you call it with 'CRC' on the label.
• tae the MP putside away from house under cover
• let it cool down for a while
• disable the MACPRO (side off, then PCIE cards out (watch that slip on the mother board for each) CPU cooling covers, DDMS sleds and finally the main FAN ( loosen two screws),..
• blast all the stuff out .. after 10 mins put it all back together.

As many readers note, take SPECIAL care to remove all the fluff and stuff on the INTAKE of the BIG GPU card (i have an ATI 1900 in mine)..

See several videos on YOUTUBE to pull that macpro apart.. this very straightfoward.

No my MP is like new .

and *BTW: NEVER USE A VACUUM CLEANER!...*

Within months of the X1900 (fall '06) people saw dust build up, poor design, and need to unclog the graphics card.

There was a tutorial on AccelerateYourMac, and some copper cooling kits.

And one of the first things recommended if dealing with 2006-7 Mac Pro w/ 1900XT. Along with boost the fans 300 rpm and watch where you place it (backed into wall or corner or inside desk hutch are no-no) as well as probably not on floor carpet, especially if you have pets or dusty environ to begin with.
