Ipod shuffle not detected on computer or charging

My Ipod (which is about 8 months old) worked fine, until about two days ago when battery ran flat whilst out, as soon as i tried to charge it the orange light flashed three times, then nothing. It hasn't been detected at all on windows or Itunes. I've been reading through the forums and people with the same problems as me have said it is because of water damage, I haven't used my ipod in the rain and i don't go running, so any ideas?

Just reset it press menu and the center buttons at the same time until the apple appears. Make sure your ipod is not connected to the computer when you do this. I hope that would help..

Sorry, but your advice is invalid... shuffles have no menu button. The reset being talked about is the Reset Utility application from Apple specifically for shuffles.

So, My iPod that I talked about being fried earlier now works perfectly fine. I decided that since nothing else was working, I would try the advice I saw about "drowning" my iPod shuffle.
I was getting the same flashing light and no recognition issue. I don't go running with my iPod so it should not have been a salt deposit issue from sweat.
Well in short:
• I popped of the switch plastic side (where the on and shuffle switch is) and switched to open it up.
• I then got a bottle of water and a paper clip to hang the iPod with.
• I dipped the iPod shuffle into the water until all the air was released and then shook it around a bit to loosen any dust or other foreign particles that may have been inside.
¡¡NOTE!! MAKE SURE IPOD IS OFF FIRST!! (with no electric current flowing it does no harm)
• I then pulled it out and put it in a dry area for a few days to ensure all around drying.
NOTE I have heard that sticking it into a bag of dry white rice helps it to dry much quicker. (Rice draws in moister from anything it is with)
• After fully dried, I let it charge again for a full cycle, and, like a miracle, it worked!!!

I have had no issues with it since and I am glad I did to have to go buy a new one. Just a tip, I would NOT recommend trying this with anything other than a shuffle. I don't think the screens will do to well with it 🙂 It's a hard process and even though it seems kinda scary to put my iPod in water instead of far away, it worked. I have accidently washed and dried my iPod 3 times with my clothes and even dropped it in the snow over night and found it the next morning and it still works great after 2 years of my abuse. Can't complain at all! Hope this helps some of you!
