Temporary Files in iTunes folder

Can I delete the temporary files in my iTunes folder?
They are big, more than 1.5 MB. I have 10 diferent temporary files.
Why they are create and my iTunes program need them there?
What can I do about? They taken a lot of space in my HD.

You can delete temporary files from your iTunes folder.

iTunes creates temporary files during normal operation but they should get deleted.

If iTunes doesn't close properly they can be left behind.

Also virus checking can prevent deletion - this seems to be a particular issue with NOD32. You could try briefly disabling virus checking to see if that cures the problem and if it does exclude your iTunes folder from checking.

The problem has also be associated with plugins like iscrobbler and Qloud.

In Vista it could happen if your account doesn't have full control of the iTunes folder and deletion is not permitted.
