I bought a new computer, the tech copied my old hard drive onto the new one. I couldn't get iTunes to open, so I downloaded it again. I still can't get the songs I already have to display. Help?

I 2 have this same problem, I also noticed that if I click on one of the songs it will launch via itunes and then stay in the itunes library. There has to be a simlpler way. Anyone know of a way to point the new folder of songs to the database?
What I did to get everything in teh library!
I went to where all my music is on the d:drive and copied and dragged all the music over to the library.
This seemed to work just fine!!!

I am quite new this iTunes and I have many songs on my iPod. Once I have moved music from my Library to the iPod I have deleted them. How can I move the songs from my iPod back to my library so I can copy them to another location?
Hi, I too am new to this, I bought my iPod Mini 3 weeks ago, and have added over 200 songs (mostly from CD's), but when I went into iTunes to add more songs at the weekend, the library is totally empty?
I haven't touched the library since the previous weekend, and I don't know what to do?
Do I have to download all my songs again?
TT

Are you a bartender or psychiatrist? Cause everyone appears to be sharing their problems with you in your thread.
So is iTunes opening, but with an empty library? Then you need to find the top folder of your music files and drag it into the iTunes library icon.

Rafael - Backing up your purchased music is, sorry to say, your responsibility. Apple permits one download per purchase. You can try contacting them through the Help menu in iTunes (Music Store Customer Service), explain the situation and see if they'll grant you a replacement download. If they do, burn them to a Data CD or audio CDs from iTunes so you have backup copies to protect against future failures.
Dustin, The Pepsi bottle caps are exchangable for one 99 cent song. For an album, you must "buy" each track individually to pay for them with a cap code.
Thanks, I have tried this, and found all my tunes, but when I connect my iPod it's telling me that another user is currently using my library and until they log out I cannot use it!
I don't know whether to re-install itunes, and re-sync my iPod?

Susan - are you quoting that error message exactly? That sounds like you have another Windows XP user account logged in and "using" iTunes. iTunes doesn't like multiple Windows users running iTunes at the same time. If nothing else, you can reboot the PC and try the iTunes/iPod connection as the first thing you do after logging in.

Mike, read this thread.
Hey guys. I have a variation of the problem some seem to be having. Ok Long story short. Before I had iTunes on this machine I lost the motherboard on it so I was using a secondary machine (that I have since gotten rid of). I got itunes when on that machine and everything was fine. When I got the "new" one up and running I installed iTunes, transfered all my itunes music over and zapped it off the old one(well formatted the drive since I was selling it). Anyway... I get the library list however its just one massive inline list not the organized setup that I had on the other computer.
I have tried deleting Itunes, reinstalling it, reimporting the directory (default) into the library. I have Edit/Preferences/advanced - keep iTunes Music Folder organized checked, I have tried unchecking it, rechecking it, reimporting the library, adding each sub folder individually and I still have that one inline list of songs unlike when I originally had iTunes and it was all seperated by genra and album and so on and nice and easy to find things.
Any Ideas on what the heck I got going on here because I am lost hehe. Windows XP Home, latest version of iTunes.

What's your setting in iTunes Preferences -> Advanced tab -> Library location?

I recently exported my itunes library and e-mailed it to myself because I had to restore my computer to factory settings(lets not get into why). But when I try to import the library, it says "could not load songs because some of the files could not be read". Is there a solution to getting my songs back? Is it the version of itunes that might have updated while my comp. was down?
This message doesn't apply and I don't know how to post a fresh message on a topic of concern. Hope that you can help me. tstein@sigecom.net
