iTunes doesn't show the songs in my library.

I bought a new computer, the tech copied my old hard drive onto the new one. I couldn't get iTunes to open, so I downloaded it again. I still can't get the songs I already have to display. Help?

Hi. Up until yesterday, I have had never had any problems with itunes. WHen I opened the program yesterday, none of my music (1800 songs) showed up. I went to the My Music file, saw all my songs there, and dragged the itunes library back into my library source list. Every song appeared, but a message came up saying the original file could not be found. I exited out, gave up for awhile, and came back to find it working.

This morning, I had the same problem. None of my songs appeared in my library, and when I went to the My Music file, none of my songs appeared. When I attempted to drag it into my source list to see what would happen, no music appeared. When I tried to open the itunes folder under My music, it said windows could not open this file...to open this file, windows needs to know what program created it...and it gave me the option of using the web to find the program that created it or to choose it myself...Needless to say, I've tried everything and searched this site and others for help, and I can't figure it out. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Please email to: cmeaney2@washcoll.edu Thank YOu!

You know, people . . . I'm sure there are a few of you in this thread that have NOT gotten help . . . there are SO many different posts, I can't tell what's answered and what's not. This is a PRIME example of why, if you have a problem, you should START YOUR OWN thread. It's just as easy as posting in (hijacking) somebody else's thread and will get you the help you need and came here for.

I wish you all luck!

Russell,

No, purchased music loads into the computer where you made the purchase. You have to manually copy the file to other computers.

You can
* burn them to CD - use "Data CD" option in Preferences -> Burning tab to retain the file in its best quality
* e-mail them to the other computer - assuming your e-mail providers support large file attachments
* upload them to an ftp server and grab them from the other computer(s)
* and so on...
