iTunes Freezes Everytime It's Opened!!!

Hi,
Ok, co every time I open itunes it freezes after about 10 seconds, but only itunes freezes and anyother applications/programs I have open stay working and my mouse will still move. And then I have to use ctrl-alt-delete to "end task" & close iTunes!

I've tried re starting my computer and doing a "repair" install of itunes..I haven't tried uninstalling it the re-installing it because I don't want to lose my library and I dont have enough time before it freezes to make a backup/export my library!

So basicaly all I really need to know is..
a) do you lose your itunes music library if you uninstall then re-install?
b) how do i stop itunes from freezing?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!

hi Craig!

Once I gave it enough time the problem seemed to correct itself.

i've seen a few of these happen with 5 ... and you're not the first person to be startled by them.

is that this is due to the library/tag setup changes in 5. it takes a while to think this through, first up.

I haven't been able to monitor the state of the art on this issue, though, so i would welcome it if anyone came along to say "b is a fool as well as a scoundrel!" and explained to Craig what was actually going on.
