apple tv says it can't find network and leaves error message (-6)

We tried to set up with a wireless network from verizon dsl. It locates the network but then keeps saying it cannot connect and to check the settings with a (-6) error message. The network is an open network. Can't find out what -6 means. Any ideas.

Welcome to the  Discussions.

When you say open, I assume you mean it has no password, have you tried another wifi channel.

Yes, it's our own network at home to which all of the 3 computers are hooked into. All 3 currently access the net without any problems.

Found the problem. The verizon dsl router needed to have a software upgrade. It was rejecting any new devices and wouldn't allow any other connections to the network.
