original app. lost after updating my itouch to 1.1.5...

Hi all I have just purchased an itouch 16gb and have updated it to 1.1.5 (didn't update to 2.0.1 because i really don't need it). Anyway what happened was I have updated it and then left the ipod charging through usb... then in the morning when I went to turn my ipod on half of my app. disappeared... ie weather, map etcetc... luckily the safari and settings (more important ones I reckon) are still there... Does anybody know why this happened? And how to get those app. back? Thanks!

It doesn't seem to have the second page because it doesn't have the two dots at the bottom. Quite funny now actually because not just that I have lost the app. But the remaining app. can't be modified!! I can't move them at all and when I hold on to the icon it doesn't wiggle... Any idea how I can downgrade it back to 1.1.4? It's much easier on that ver. Thanks

Hi Dud, It was second hand.

When I got it it was running 1.1.4 and it was perfectly fine. All original app. was there and they can be modified... It only had problems when I updated it to 1.1.5. Any idea if I could downgrade it back to 1.1.4? I have been reading other forums and appearently I am not the only one with the same problem. And 1.1.5 appears to be a hidden update and even some apple staff won't admit that they have such update and problems. (According to other forums)

I checked the serial number of the ipod and it was purchased sometime in Decemeber.

And there lies your problem, purchased or at least manufactured last year, probably originally running 1.1.2or3 firmware.

This iPod was updated by the previous owner(s) to install those now lost apps, the necessary upgrade file now resides on someone elses computer and I doubt you have access to it?

The January upgrade is no longer available to buy (a shame some may say).
All is not lost, if you want the apps you had before and more besides it will cost you $10 for the July 2.0 software upgrade, available via iTunes (but not sure about NZ).

In the unlikely event you can retreive the original Jan Upgrade file you will need to know the information in this post [HERE|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6655671&#6655671] and [here|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6696784&#6696784].

Good luck,

Dud.

Hi Dud,

Thanks for that. In that case I might update it to 2.0.1 then. So do I have to purchase those original app. after purchasing 2.0.1 or will they come with the update?

I never thought an Itouch is so different from a normal Ipod. And never paid much attention to how it developed over the year.

Thanks mate

Hi,

You're in luck, those apps come with 2.0, much to the annoyance of a few people who bought the original Jan update but thats another story.

Of course with 2.0 come all the related new problems that every one is discussing on these boards but don't let that put you off, it's well worth $10.

Just check out some posts with tips regarding installation, follow the basic instructions and you'll be fine.

Good luck,

Dud.
