Applications - 1 Update Available (Permanently Stuck)

Hi,

I have this (1) badge permanently next to Applications in my LIBRARY source list. When I click on it, I see it says "1 Update Available" and when I click on that it says "No updates available. Check again later."

This seems messed up to me. There aren't any Application updates available, but iTunes thinks there are. How do I make the (1) badge go away?

I was able to get rid of the '1' listed by my apps. The problem was that iTunes figured out I had an update when my phone knew about it at the same time. I did the update on the phone so I was never able to do it through iTunes since my phone had the latest version (and thus there was no way to get rid of that '1'). I did it by deleting the application out of iTunes that I had updated on my phone and the '1' went away. I could then re-download the app for free from the store and was set. Not a great workaround, but at least I was able to get rid of that annoyance of iTunes thinking I had an update when in fact I didn't.

Hope that helps.

I've had this problem for several days, and just found a solution (in my case, anyways). After reading the suggestions on this thread, I looked through my Apps to see if I could remember any that were updated at around the time the problem started. Instead, I found an App that I had deleted from my iPod touch, but I did NOT delete from my library. I deleted it from iTunes, and the badge went away.

Hope this helps!

I had the same problem for over 3 weeks. But I finally solved it... so far.

Step 1:
Disconnect iphone or ipod touch from your computer.

Step 2:
Delete the program that updated when your first got the problem (in my case Crash Kart 3D) from your application in your itunes. Open itunes. From the Library on the top left handside you can see "Applications". Click and choose the applications from which you started having the update problems. Delete that or those programs. From what I read from itunes, you will not be recharged for the applications you have previous bought. Also the when you delete it, it will still be in your trash so you can put it back if this doesn't work.

Step 3:
Now sync your iphone or ipod touch to your computer. The update application problem is gone.

Step 4:
Sync your iphone or ipod touch to your computer. You should find that the program is still on your ipod touch or iphone, and the updates for applications on your computer is clear.

Upgrade to iTunes 8, then:

1 Drag the Mobile Applications folder from ~/Music/iTunes to the desktop

2 Open iTunes WITHOUT THE IPHONE/IPOD CONNECTED and select all your applications and delete them. (if your iPhone/iPod were connected, it would now start helpfully deleting apps)

3. When they’re all gone, quit iTunes

4. Start iTunes again and verify that you have no apps listed.

5. Drag your the Mobile Applications folder to your open iTunes window — if you have default iTunes settings (copy/manage my music), then iTunes will start re-adding your applications.

6. Read the iTunes notices carefully — you will likely get something like “an OLDER version of this app already exists, do you want to replace it” (you DO), or “a NEWER version of this app already exists, do you want to replace it” (you DON’T), or sometimes a mention that this app already exists as the same version (replace it).

7. Quit iTunes, then restart it to “set” the changes

works a treat!! i've had the incorrect updates since day one!

also fixes the 5002 error too!

THANK YOU THANK YOU!... After 5 people at Apple tech support, their only answer was to delete each app one at a time and then redownload/install it. While on hold, I found this thread and solved the problem before Apple came back on the phone.

Apple told me that the technicians are aware of this problem in iTunes 8. It certainly messed up iChat video too. Hopefully iTunes 8.0.1 is coming soon!

Thanks again for this solution.
