Old HP DesignJet printer bypasses RIP after upgrade to Leopard

My hp DesignJet 10ps has a print driver that has been bundled in the new OS, but when I print documents they bypasses the RIP software and my color quality is poor. The hp website says the driver is included in the OS & has nothing for me to download. How can I get the new OS to recognize the RIP software? The DesignJet made beautiful proofs last week. This week it has become useless as a design tool. I'm NOT a techie so please dumb it down for me. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

Please bear with me. The reason I bought this printer in the first place was because the RIP was simple to use. It was not a separate program. I'd used PowerRip in the past & had a lot of trouble with it. When things were working I had a "printer" called hpdesignjet_10psRIP that I selected for color printing. A virtual printer maybe? I'm a graphic designer, I know nothing about this. The printer is still on my dock but when it is selected it tells me this printer is not in my printer list, would I like to access the list. So I do, only there is nothing on the list that is appropriate for my printer. I can't find a way to access the RIP software. I've been scouring the internet for two days now trying to get an answer. Any suggestions would be graciously appreciated.

So what you are saying is that I was lucky to have gotten it to work when I was running 10.4?

This is so sad. I have to take a printer that worked wonderfully just three days ago & get rid of it because I loaded a new OS? And all the extra ink I have sitting here... what a total waste! I REALLY wish I hadn't upgraded my OS. If I had known I never would have done it. When I looked on HP's website it said the driver was included in the OS update. It never occurred to me that it wouldn't be postscript any longer.

I appreciate your help very much. I am just sick about this though. So wasteful.
