iPhone keeps asking for PIN code (+ headset problem)

Hi

I've been encountering several problems since I got my iPhone 2G in December 07 :
- sometimes my iPhone seems to reset SIM authentication, which simply turns it off the cellular network (thus making me miss calls if I don't type in my PIN code again, or hanging up while I'm speaking). I live in Paris, and there's nowhere I can't have coverage. So that's pretty weird.
- I've figured out an issue with the sensor that switches between headset and speaker output. While listening to music, if I pull the headset out of the phone, I can't have the speaker working (no sound at all). My solution for this right now, is to plug the headset again, turn off the music, and above all never plug out the headset while iPhone is playing while screen is turned off.

Anyone has seen that ? I'm looking for a solution, or a hint it might not be fixed through software update, since I only have 5 months left of warranty.

Cheers,

iMac 24" early 2007, Mac OS X (10.5.4), iPhone 2G 8Gb

Are you using a protective case with the iPhone? If so, test without it.
Do you have SIM pin lock enabled? Does it have the same issue if you disable SIM pin lock and enable the Passcode lock?
Settings> Phone> SIM> Off; Settings> General> Passcode Lock.

There may be debris in the headphone jack if the iPhone shows headphones are still attached when adjusting the volume like this image:

Try plugging and unplugging the headphones a few times. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1630 provides more tips that may resolve that issue.
