also, i can say you this

in sweden, there were hardly any posts in the forum until august, so it took 5 weeks for people to really understand something was wrong..

it has not been in the newspapers, except from 1 or 2 in small newspapers..

i have followed this from the beginning...the most people are not on forum/boards, they call the carrier and they say "nothing is wrong" so what to do ?

it's also very time consuming

many people are still on holiday...maybe also that could be the case in portugal

michaelab,

"It doesn't matter what you know about GSM/Edge/3G, if you're getting a lot of dropped calls you will know you have issues!"

*If your local Apple Store or service provider either turns off 3G or directs you to do so, you will NOT know you have issues. If a customer does not know the difference in GSM-EDGE-3G, then those customers will remain unaware of their poor (now turned off) 3G service.*

"Even so, the vast majority of iPhone 3G users have no issues at all."

*What evidence do you have to support that assertion. I know 12 iPhone 3G users and I am on my 4th swapped iPhone. We all have the defective 3G issue. So, I would be very anxious to know what your empirical evidence is (and an email supposedly from Steve Jobs or a PR statement from a provider claiming 2% have problems IS NOT empirical evidence).*
