Band names starting with "the"

If you're running a language different than English, iTunes will ignore the local article equivalents of "The". Like in German, it would be "De", sort of thing.

Same here! I don't like 5.01! Now I have this huge group of "The" bands! Grrrrrr

True, I remember an issue along that line where "Dashboard Confessional" was filed under "h" a long while back. Unfortuanately, the original post was:

Unless the German (or whatever) version also ignores "The", and Harry is using one of those versions...

Unfortunately, we don't have enough info on the original post to determine this as the issue. If HArry were to post some info about the version and language, maybe?

What's up with this forum?
Everywhere I look, it's just people asking questions, but no one ever has answers. Most every other forum I've seen has people from the company who hang out and help. Not Apple. They don't even post release notes for version changes.

I guess it's not the world's worst problem and I could just list the bands under Blah, The instead. But still it's a definite downgrade from previous iTunes versions. I am assuming that this is a glich and there is no way to correct it? I can see it now... iTunes 5.02....

I dunno...I think you somehow got a foreign-language version of iTunes. I'm running 5.0.1.4, and my bands with "The" are filed fine.

I'm not sure, unfortunately, how you can check what language version of iTunes you're running...anyone have any idea?

and how can i get the list be truly alphabetical, you know, like "the" coming where the other bands with a "t" starting their names.

Frankly, I'm not sure you can. If you start the band name with a superfluous "The", it might work (like "The The Beatles"). But that seems like a little bit of a hack.

Personally, I can't see why you'd want to do this, but it'd probably be a feature request for Apple.

How did you download that and where did you find it? I checked my iTunes and it says I am running the latest version (5.0.2) so needless to say I am confused!

What is the difference besides the "the" listing?

That's...ummm....impressive. I don't know what 5.0.2 is, and everything on Apple's site seems to indicate that the version is still 5.0.1. So either:
1) They released 5.0.2 and unreleased it, and you slipped in an interval
2) They've released 5.0.2 but not updated the web pages to say that's what you're downloading
3) One of us is reading the information wrong.

When, how, and where did you get 5.0.2?

I don't have 5.02 I meant 5.01 BUT I still was interested where the download from 5.01.4 came from.
