super-drive couldnt read my metallica dvd

hi, brand new macbook.
put in some kind of monster dvd.
it said drive is not set to this region dvd.
it said change the setting, but only 4 attempts to change.
but there was no other choice apart from region 1.
dvd is region 2....most dvds in my house are region 2.

whats going on??
i would have thought it would be multi-region drive........

Super drive just means that the drive can read and write to DVDs (variety of formats such as DVD+R, DVD-R, etc), not that it can play multi-region DVDs. I don't think there are any multi-region DVD players. This is something that the companies that produce DVDs have decided to do for whatever reason. If you put in another DVD, does it only let you select something other than region 1?

cheers.

ive only tried two dvd discs.
one was metallica with said problem.
one was another self made dvd movie. that worked. but was kinda noisy and slow to load up.

optical drive dont feel or sound too good. bit noisy when load in a disc.

yeah with the metallica region 2 dvd, the players only choice was region 1....
so it wouldnt allow me to wathc it. most dvds in UK are region 2.

ill check some more later.
wont be wathcing dvds much anyway on macbook.

bought it for music production.

even thinking about taking out the optical drive and putting in a 2nd internal big fast hard drive. (music apps work better like this, especially pro tools)

thanks
