Alpine KCA-420i and iphone charging.

I have this head unit:

I have this interface adapter:

The Problem is that it doesn't charge while it's plugged in.

If I buy this

Will it charge and play music?

Im not sure if it will work but you'll want to look for the "Works with iPhone" logo.

it will not. I have the cda 9886 and it will play music however it wont charge, message will show up saying its not compatible with iphone interms of charging the phone.

I have the CDA-9887, which I think is a lil newer then yours, and hooked up using the KCE422i. All the iPods I have works just fine and will charge. But with the iPhone 3G it will only play music, and will not charge.

Just recently ordered this the CDA-9887, and was wondering if you could tell me if the iPod functions of the 3G such as playlists and search will work? I know you said it won't charge via the iPod cable KCE-422 for the alpine, but besides charging, do all of the other functions of the iPhone 3G work? Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

3G should work fine for the KCE-422 and KCA-420. If you want to charge, purchase the passport from Scosche (http://scosche.com/passport). Works like a charm... Enjoy!
