Over the air sync can be changed on your iPhone

iTunes says that "Your contacts are being synced with your iPhone over the air from MobileMe.
Over-the-air sync settings can be changed on your iPhone".

How do I change that so I can sync my contacts with Windows Contacts? When I tried to sync with MobileMe I lost all of my contacts and I want to get them back on my iPhone.

Are you a mobileme subscriber? If so, go to start-->control panel-->mobileme preferences-->sync tab. It will show you what address book etc. that you are syncing with. If you change the contacts drop down to windows address book, that should repopulate your contacts on your phone.

Yes, I am a mobilme subscriber. However, MobileMe will not sync to my iPhone. When it did it wiped out all of my contacts. Now I do not want it to even be aware of MobileMe. I want iTunes to give me the option of syncing with Windows Contacts like it did before I tried to get it to sync with MobileMe.

iTunes says that "Over-the-air sync settings can be changed on your iPhone" How do I do that?

I have a mobileme account, but I am also trying to disable it on my iPhone because it keeps screwing up my calendars. I tried to follow the steps you outline here, but I do not have "mobileme account" available in my settings. How is that possible?!

Jimbo, I had the same problem as you. I have a work and my personal account and work calendars were syncing fine until last week. Here is what I did to fix the problem and it worked. I just uninstalled my work account and then installed it following all the settings I used before. When your account gets verified you will have an option to sync your calendar, so select ON. Miraculously everything started working fine again once when I set my account from scratch. Hope it works for you as well!

Hi,
I did the same thing deleted my email account and recreated it, went with the same settings and same issues.
I certainly am not a Mac or iPhone expert, but I can tell you what happened to me then. I obviously had the same issue with "over air sync can be changed on your iphone" and my contacts had been wiped out. I was concerned as I had lost all my contacts off the iphone however my mobileme account had all of the contacts there. I found that all I had to do was give it some time to really sync between mobileme and the iphone contacts. I was being too impatient expecting them to appear instantly once I agreed to the sync with mobileme. I left it for a few hours and the contacts finally syncd.
Hope this helps

i'm having the same basic problem; i haven't had a mobileme account for about six months and have nothing relating to mobileme anywhere on my phone, but my contacts, calendars and browser bookmarks all think they're being synched by mobileme and that i can change the settings on my phone. i want to correct all of this, of course, but the thing that's bothering me most at the moment is my contacts. i have some very important contacts in my Address Book that i need to have on my phone and i'd REALLY rather not have to enter them into my phone manually. how do i make them sync?

thank you...

Two issues are happening here.
First, on the iPhone to change your Sync preferences:
1. Under Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Select your MobileMe account (does it exist still?)
2. If it still exists, Turn off the Over-The-Air Sync Sync options for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks.

To Continue Syncing:
You can no longer sync over-the-air.
You must set you Address Book to sync to your iPhone in your iPhone Device Info Tab in iTunes.
(a.k.a., you have to plug in to sync).

Hope that helps.

I'm have just started using the MS-Exchange sync so as to be able to sync my google calendar only to find that it only syncs the personal calendar with the iPhone. None of the other calendars appear on the iPhone.
Does anyone know whether this is a feature or a setting that I haven't found?
