iPhone Compatible FM Transmitters

Hi,

I've been looking at what's on the market regarding a FM transmitter. It appears that there's not yet a model available, which works well with the iPhone 3G. Reports of maybe 2 or 3 models that will work but produce background noise and interference from the phone signal.

Any experiences to add?

Mike.

I tried the Griffin Autopilot http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/itripautopilot which is compatible with iPhone but I had terrible results getting it to work well through the FM. Its a little pricey ($99) so I returned it for just a charger. So far I haven't found a replacement to try.

I have an older Griffin iTrip for my 4G iPod which works pretty well in the same car so I don't know why they couldn't make a decent one for the iPhone.

Here is your solution. Get a radio that has an aux input. Be it rca or phono. Then get an adapter that goes int eh headphones jack and into the radio. IF you get a radio with the phono plug you can get a double male sided phono cord. If the radio you choose has RCA connections you can get an adapter for that too. I have not seen a great all in one at radio shack, but you can get one at walgreens or walmart. This really really I mean really makes your radio quite loud being as you are sending an amplified signal into the radio. Imagine cd quality and an extra tier on the loud button. Take it from an audiophile this is the only way to go. Even radios with the ipod connection that allows full control through the usb connection at the bottom of your ipod/iphone will not give you the same bang for your buck. This is also the cheapest solution. This also leaves the bttom of your ipod iphone open for a charger that works.

Now if someone would just make an adapter that split the mic connection off of the headphone connection then you could use it like handsfree bluetooth, but a heck of a lot cheaper!

Seriously why is no one doing this?

Trust me people are amazed to hear the pure thunder originating from my iPhone on my car sound system. Best part! No skipping like a cd. No matter if the nuts are all vibrating off all over the car. 😀

Hi geauxra............................,

Ok, but you're missing the point. I want a cable free connection!!!

My car senses the iPhone when I get in it ! how difficult can it be to get a good wireless connection to the sound system for music playback in the car?

Here in the UK, the law is getting tough on in car systems which divert attention from driving. It's got to be completely 'hands free'.
