If you go to the nokia link I posted, then type E71 into the box next to 'Your phone model:' under the *Compatible Phones* heading, a green download link is displayed. Click that and a pop-up window appears with the agreement, and two buttons underneath "Accept and start download" and "Decline and go back".

Click the "Accept" button and the plugin will instantly start downloading from the direct link below:

Nice? You mean like helping people and solving their sync problems? Kind of like I did above?

I just got the E71 nokia here in Israel but cannot synch it with my mac. I download the program from Nokia get the little box picture and then ......nothing I know I am doing something stupidly wrong but having just relocated and jet lagged I need help.

If so, double-click it to install the plugin, then open the Bluetooth system preferences pane and click the button to add a new device, and go through the *Bluetooth Setup Assistant*, making sure to chcek the option to use iSync with your phone at the appropriate point.

I'm having a bit of a problem with Syncing my e71 with iCal.

I've been doing so successfully with my e71 (and e61 before that) since I got the phone 2 months ago. All of a sudden from a few days ago it has been syncing my address book but not my calender! Strange.

When I opened and clicked under the e71 button of iSync to reach the drop down menu I see the box next to "turn on e71 synchronization" is ticked. As is the one next to "contacts". But not the one next to calender. When I try to do that it gives an error message that says "No writable calendar was found. Before you can synchronize your calendars, you need to open a calendar application that supports synchronization and create at least one writable calendar." It gives Cancel and Open iCal option. If I click the latter it takes me to iCal but does nothing else!

Perplexing!

While iSync is nice for the basics, I've found that missingsync has worked best for my blackberry and nokia syncing.

There are pros and cons to both models (the iTunes syncing appears to still have glitches with the E71 -- maybe that's user error here). As a phone, the Blackberries are frustratingly not 'smart' for smartphones for many features. RIM seems enamoured with far too many drilldown menus rather than being able to set preferences once. Nokia's voice recognition sw is not nearly as good. But for syncing, overall both platforms are very well supported by the Mark/Space people. Just be sure to professionally keep on them (mark/space) so they will resolve any lingering bugs. Contact, calendar, photo, tasks, files (aside from mp3 or aac), and video all sync pretty darn well.

I'm having this exact same problem. Also, I can't seem to edit my contacts in my Mac's address book.

I would strongly, strongly recommend you listen to paul (above) and get missing sync. Why waste more time and headaches with the free cr*p that nokia give you when $40 will fix it in one go? Don't be a tighta*se.

I have Missing sync for Palm, Blackberry, iPhone and Windows mobile and they have all worked fantastically well

Thanks to you both for answering query. I just ordered an e71 as a temp replacement phone and then wondered if it syncs up with my mac!
