Canon MP210 Prints too light from InDesign

Hi,
I'm having a bit of a problem trying to print. Everything I try printing from InDesign to the canon MP210 comes out very light, almost like it might be in draft mode.
I had tried changing the options and nothing seems to work, the driver settings, as well and making sure the colorsync is selected.
I had managed to get it to print dark once a few days ago, but I can't remember what I did.
I have gone through way too much ink and paper trying to figure this out.

I'm just trying to print labels, so it's just text with a border. I printed from Illustrator, and it prints dark, but there is a bit of a shadow on the text and border. It does the same when I print from a pdf file as well. I had this happen as well when i printed a picture from iphoto, almost like the ink is offset, but i know it's not.
I have a bunch of labels i need to print and i'd like to have them print properly.

If anybody can help it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Channa

Thanks for the welcome.

I have had the "use black for text" and the only option available to me for the colorsync is "standard", in the colour options i have it on colorsync, and i have tried playing with the brightness in there as well.
I don't see any other printer options in the drop down menu.
It's really odd that it's doing this, though from looking it up it seems common enough with the canon printers.
Under the colour management section i had tried different Printer profiles as well but all of them seem to do the same.
I'm at a loss.
