Using Bookmarks as the home page.

When I used Netscape, I was able to set the home page to my list of bookmarks - file://localhost/Users/Home/Library/Application%20Support/Navigator/Profiles/cxu hqud2.default/bookmarks.html
The home page loaded fast and I could go to any bookmark just by clicking on it.

In Safari, Is it possible set the list of bookmarks as a home page? Thus one could search the list using the "Find" function in Safari.

Thank you for any help, Jerry

Sorry, but that's not possible. Bookmarks are not stored as an .html file, so you'd have to export them as that, and do it every time you changed (add or delete) any bookmarks.

Wait! I see it is possible, but you need to go to Preferences > General and select the "New windows open with: pop-down menu and select "Bookmarks".

Netscape provides a "Manage Bookmarks" page that opens as it's own page, in the same size each time (Firefox has similar system). Internet Explorer even provides that their bookmarks page can open along with the regular home page. Something similar should be available in Safari. I constantly refer to my bookmarks and it's frustrating to have Safari Bookmarks open only as a regular page. They should also have the Bookmarks pull-down provide access to the entire bookmarks list like it does for the Bookmarks Bar.

I really think that Apple needs to look into improving Safari's bookmarks.
