My itunes is skipping songs. I'm listening a song, and right in the middle of it, it skips to the next song. This does not happen if I linten to it in another player. Please Let me know what I need to do in order to prevent this.
I had the same problem, except it only affected songs on my nano. If I played the same track in iTunes on my PC, it was fine. I just updated to the newest iTunes, and reset my nano, just in case. This solved my problem. Do you have the latest version?
This same thing has been happening to me. Different songs skip at different times, but each song skips to the next song at the exact same point within it. I've updated everything to 10.5.5, running iTunes 8, so I don't know what the problem is.
Yep, here is another unhappy user with the same problem! Recently when I import a CD to iTunes, it skips after 10 or so seconds to the next track, even though the whole track shows up time-wise in iTunes. I transferred the songs to my iTouch and the songs skip like a scratched record there. What's up with this? I am surprised that there are no solutions offered when so many people seem to have this issue! As with shqckr I am also absolutely up to date with versions...
OK, so the way around this? I found I had to throw out my iTunes program and reinstall and that seems to have solved the problem. The one thing I find though is that all the CD's I had converted at the time when the problem started, had to be deleted and re-ripped. Seems to be OK though... that might solve your problems.
Yes I have the same thing happening to me. I have one song for example that skips to the next track at exactly 30 secs in Mac iTunes 8.0.1 on G4 DP800 OS X 10.4.11 ~ however the entire track plays in Quicktime no problem at all. I have tried dumping prefs, does nothing. Why should I re-rip when it plays OK on Quicktime? Any other ideas out there dudes?
Hey check this out if you have MP3s that suddenly skip to the next track. I had some MP3s that were LAME encoded and in the audio file was LAME headers. I downloaded an app called "MP3 Trimmer" http://www.deepniner.net/mp3trimmer/ and used it's repair tool to strip out all the LAME debris in the file. Now those tracks play fine in iTunes. The only downside is it rips out all the ID3 tag info so you'll have to replace that. Very nice little app!
I'm having skipping problems, but not entire songs, just minor skips. My iTunes adds a new one, it won't track the current tune in the song track bar at the top and does not update the play count column. Weird... Have not deleted and reinstalled iTunes, but that might do it. Hope not... Pain in the ***... Has Apple posted new security update or anything?
ok not only my iTunes skips but my computer is a bit slow, like the spin wheel goes for a few seconds when I either change application or try to type something in a browser or even just move a window...etc. My machine is new and when I clic on something should it not be instant? Man! Should I send it back? thanks
I just want to add to this concern that my iTunes also skips and it would be nice to get a little bit of help on this.
iTunes it skipped songs i.e. a song will play halfway through and then skips to the next song.
1) This problem is usually limited to all songs in a particular albums. One of them, for example, is in MPEG-1, Layer 3 format. Media Kind set to Music and other options unchecked.
2) A similar yet different problem I have is that some albums play fine under iTunes but the skipping problem occurs under iPod. For example, I have a language course album, so I've tried under Media Kind = Music or Audiobook, but the problems remains
Same problem as everyone else, some songs get 20 seconds into the song and then skip to the next song.
Although, when the song is opened in quicktime only the first 20 seconds play, so there must be something wrong with the file.
Here's my extra bit of oddity: If you scrub to another location in the song in iTunes, it will play first 20 seconds again and skip, but the time will be as if it were in the middle of the song.
I guess this answers why the song's skipping, but it still seems weird that iTunes is so misinformed about the file.
