Keychain Access....How safe is it?

I've recently started to use the Secure Notes in Keychain Access, to store my passwords, banking details etc. Does anyone think this is a risky idea. What are the chances of being hacked from outside, or if the computer was stolen, what are the chances of the information being retrieved by a determined thief.

How would one move the Keychain to this encrypted disk image? Just drag and drop? This wouldn't cause any issues?

No, the encrypted disk image is not to keep your keychain. You use it to store documents, like a file with all your passwords in it. I keep a spreadsheet with all my passwords, software serial numbers, bank account numbers, etc.
