5.plug ipod into computer
6.Go to my computer
7.Open your ipod and drag these files into it . Dont worry no virus, just the files from a friends ipod. (5th gen)

Naw, it's full of executables, that 2kieth file. There's one thing out of all the files I've encountered that a Mac can't open or run, thats an exe file. Unless this is an exception due to being on an iPod, but I doubt it.

I'm having the same issue on a used 5th Gen iPod I bought for my dad on eBay. When I got the iPod it kept going through the restore process on his PC (Vista). Here are two of the problems:

1) The used iPod is apparently formatted for Mac (I got it to finally be read by my G4, but it failed when accessing the Vista machine again).
2) Microsoft, in their "infinite wisdom," forces all formatting by default to be done as NTFS (NT File System) which is incompatible with the iPod.

You have to format the iPod in a compatible format (FAT32) before you begin the steps keith22 provided above. To do this:

1) Figure out which drive letter the iPod hard drive is recognized by the computer by checking My Computer. In my example, the drive letter is G:
2) Open a command window (START > Run > CMD)
3) Type the following and press return/enter:

FORMAT G: /FS:FAT32 /V:iPod

4) You will be asked to insert a new disk for drive G: and press enter, so press enter.
5) This may take a while. Formatting a 30GB drive in FAT32 could take up to 2 hours. I had NO luck formatting using Quick Format, so I don't recommend that option. Your 80GB classic may take several hours.
6) Once the formatting is complete, follow keith22's instructions above.

Good luck!
-Jeff
