My laptop can find my router network fine. I reseted my router and Iphone but my iphone still cant find any routers. I reseted the network settings too. If I try to put in the name and password manually it just says "Joining InsertNetworkNameHere" Over and over, with no results. Any suggestions?

It is an iphone 3g firmware 2.0.2

OH the router is a Belkin N Router

Another victim here.
Don't remember wifi disappearing straight away after the 4.0 upgrade but annoyingly spotted the problem a few days later whilst on holiday. Being abroad and unable to access hotel wifi meant I came home to quite a large bill from my phone provider!
Fingers crossed it's a software issue and a fix is secretly being investigated. Had a Genius Bar session but other than offering restores etc. which I had already tried the only alternative suggested was to sell me (an albeit modestly priced) replacement handset.

Did you try this Apple trouble shooting guide? http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1421792&page=46

Before you buy a replacement you have nothing to lose by trying this hack http://www.iphonetiquicia.com/repair-iphone-3g-wifi-oven/

It could be your problem is not software related but due to fatigued solder joints on your motherboard.

I truly believe that my phone my be infected with some sort of virus or WIFI malfunction set on by my computer. I have gone through 2 phones in a row with the same problem. The first stopped detecting wifi for an unknown reason and was replaced on warranty while I was on vacation. For the rest of the trip I used my phone with factory settings, no contacts or apps, the wifi worked great. When I got home and restored my phone with my information it instantly stopped detecting WIFI networks. My one year warranty is now up, will they replace my phone anyways? And has anyone had any similar experiences?

I just completed a search of a few hours around the internet...
First of all, my iPhone 2G started acting weird 2 days ago (have it about 3 years now, worked perfectly...), always freezing and losing connection etc.
I first did a complete system restore with iTunes, didn't help at all.
So, as described here, I turned it off, removed the sim card, back on. Now it connected with my wifi... Turned it back off, sim card back in the phone and back on... Now it showed my wifi, but had a lot of difficulties connecting to it. It constantly loses it's connection. Then I tried manually entering the wifi ID in the General>Wifi, worked for about 5 minutes, then lost it's connection again. I tried airplane mode a few times, and turning bluetooth on and off a few times as well, didn't help (although, on other forums this helped for a lot of people apparently...) So basically, the problem is still there.. Although I really find it strange that this occured to me after 3 years, and I had never heard of this problem before... A lot of my friends have iPhones and none of them ever had this problem. Anyway, I keep on searching for a solution, when I find one, you'll be the first to know.

tried your trick and it does not work for me. indeed, i am not sure why it works for some people (but for how long? in my case i can pick up the wifi signal again, but after a little while it drops again). the problem should be a hardware problem, as well described here:

i haven't tried the oven trick, and probably i won't, since disassembling and re-assembling the iphone isn't exactly an easy thing to do

I'm the same! I got my iphone 3g 8 months ago, it seemed to work fine until last week when wifi stopped working.
My wifi network at home can be found by my macbook and ipod touch no problem - in fact they can pick up the neighbours eifi too!
When wifi is switched on my iphone the 'choose a network...' menu has a constant circle spinning, when i go into other and specifically look for my home network I get the error message 'cannot search for wireless network'.
I have tried to fix this by:
1. Switching iphone on and off
2. Switching wifi on and off
3. Switching airport mode on and off
4. Resetting the network
5. Updating to the newest iphone software available

STILL NOTHING!!! rage
I have an appointment at the genius bar tomorrow in Glasgow so hopefully they can help...only problem is I can't work out whether I'll be covered. I've had the iphone 8 months, so it's outwith 6 months warranty however i have been looking into it and apple have a one year limited hardware warranty..any ideas?

I've always bought apple: macbooks, ipods etc. and they've been great but if this isn't fixed tomorrow (without great cost to me) i can see myself moving over to blackberry.

Iphone can't find any wifi networks.?
