help clarifying my iPhone 3G problems

I'm starting off saying I recieved my iPhone on july 24. First 3 weeks were great full bars fast speeds good battery life. One day my safari starts hanging up and not loading then giving me error messages. I call both AT&T and apple and restored the phone numerous times and numerous different ways. Saw the genius bar and still no luck.

Went back again and they gave me a new phone. I still get the same problems with 3G responding on and off. I should note that my problems started before I loaded any updates. I want to know if this is the same problem everyone is talking about with the chip in the phone not coded correctly and what apple is currently working on. It's seems like it is just the 3G when using safari. Phone calls have been pretty good but I haven't really had long phone calls that would equal my use of safari. I'm praying this is what everyone else is experiencing.

But if that is a software isuue I'm worried about my second phones battery. My old phone I could get through the day easily and get like 5-6 hours use and almost a day on standby heavily using safari with a couple calls text music gps and video mixed in. I'm away on vacation with a lesser signal but I'm barely getting 3 hours before the 20% warning and it maxes out around 41/2 hours. For some reason I'm really noticing the battery life decreasing at a hire rate and inconsistently. I can go for an hour after charge with only a blip off the indicator and then the the second hour takes it down to around 25% left.

So any Info on my two glaring problems would be really appreciate it. I can live with the 3g until the fix though it really ***** right nw but I'm hoping this new replacement isn't faulty. Also I can get a new sim and don't mind restoring to a new phone but does anyone know a quick easy way to save the contacts restore to a new phone and put just the media and contacts back on? I'm thinking it could be something I downloaded or hanged because like I said it worked great for like 3 weeks.

Again I would really appreciate any help or similar problems you have so I can narrow down the problems. I'm currently using the 2.0.2 update and I will happily go into more detail if you need it.
