HP Photosmart C4580 not detecting wireless network
Just bought a new MacBook with the wireless HP Photosmart printer. when I go to set up the wireless section of the printer I get an error message telling me the printer is out of range. The printer and router are touching. . . The wireless network is working properly as I am writing from it. HP tech support would not even trouble shoot the problem. I tried twice. Finally I contacted a friendly Mac rep who took me through trouble shooting and then, not having an answer, offered to replace/refund the printer or let me see if i could get an answer here. In the interest of gaining some enlightenment (and hopefully more instant gratification) I'll try here first.
I´ve been using HP OfficeJet J6410 with my wireless network without any problems... I´ve upgraded to Snow Leopard and HP software for this OS. Everything is up to date. I can print via USB but NOT via WiFi. All other PC´s at home can still print via WiFi.
I get the same message: "Device Not Reachable -
The network configuration was successfully downloaded to the device. However to continue configuring the device in network, your Mac must have access to the device. So please make sure that your Mac has access to the Network : "..." and retry."
Same issue but was very easy to fix, follow Kicks4u2's advice:
1. Go to printer and print our wireless configuration
2. Uninstall and Reinstall the HP Software from Scratch
3. Plug the printer into your USB port
4. Start the setup process
5. Add printer, select hp jetsocket
6. Enter the IP address for your printer - It should auto detect the driver.
7. You're done.
i also have this same trouble,
however..
it was working fine until i brought an apple airport extreme router,
i tried to set up my printer now it cant connect to my network!!
can connect on my imac or mac-book, only with usb?
I have had the same trouble for 4 hours now with an HP Printer and AirPort. I kept getting the error message that the network could not be found. I tried to configure the printer through the EWS and had no luck. I started messing around with the AirPort Utility and found that the radio mode underneath the wireless tab was set to 802.11n only but the printer has a 802.11g radio. I changed the radio mode to 802.11n (802.11b/g compatible) and then the HP installation software recognized the network and i was able to get everything set up and working. Hope this helps.
Boz831. Your a legend!
It took me almost as long to log into apple and send this as it took to get the printer working with my netgear router, but I wanted to thank you for your forum support post. It really helped me out.
