After downloading updates to applications and syncing to iphone I got error message: Some of the applications in your iTunes library were not installed on the iPhone "(my name) iPhone because one or more errors occurred.
Example of error:
"The application "(the updated app)" was not installed on the iPhone "(my name) iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE800002E)."
The applications however were still on the phone after the update and I was able to run them. I did a restore of the iPhone from the latest backup and the error message still came up. The more updates I receive the more error messages I got. I'm up to 19 app errors.
However, after deleting one of the 19 applications that were listed from my iTunes library and then syn icing to Phone again after erasing it I did not get the error. I now how 18 errors.
I called up apple tech support that they could not resolve the issue.
I had the same problem with an iPod Touch and after repeated trying to re-sync it with iTunes, I shut down the iPod Touch and restarted it. When I tried to sync it again after it had restarted, it synced the updated apps without any errors.
Restarting the "Apple Mobile Device" service did NOT resolve the problem. I have had this error on SEVERAL occasions, so there is definitely a problem with iTunes/iPhone 3G.
Rebooting my computer often resolves the problem but that's annoying.
Mine is broken too. Sigh. My mail doesn't update until I force it too (despite having PUSH for some accounts and having other accounts check every 15 minutes), my applications won't update with error code 0xE800002E, random calendar events that I change on the phone don't made it to my iCal at home, while others randomly do, when I go to contacts, it's a five seconds before I can scroll through them. Is this thing a lemon?
... nonethelesss... backup and synch are seriously misbehaving, for many of us, since fw 2.0 was introduced, and Apple should really fix all this mess!!!
Anyone reading the solutions which you delete the application from the iPhone and iTunes, or disabling the sync option for applications, beware that all of your data that was stored for an application will be lost forever. The only way to get it back is for you do a restore from backup immediately after the deleting of an application, but then you are back at square one with the error messages.
People giving this advise should really state that in their solutions.
Ever since 2.0.2 came out my reception has been lousy, the applications are spootting out all sorts of errors "App not installed due to unknown error (0xE800002E)" as well as other error codes. I am going to restore the phone to 2.0 and leave it until the next major update because our friends in Cupertino have failed to resolve key issues with 2.0 and instead have created several more with 2.0.2. I reccomend a restore!
After wrestling with this problem for the past day, here is what worked for me:
iPhone 3G Error 0XE800002E
The Problem: You have downloaded updated applications for the iPhone 3G in iTunes, but when syncing, you get unknown error 0XE800002E and your updated applications have not been copied to the phone.
The Fix:
1. In iTunes, go into the Applications folder in the Library (pane at left in iTunes window). Option-drag all apps to new folder named iTunes Apps on desktop; duplicate this folder on the desktop just to be safe as you will be changing the app names in the new iTunes Apps folder.
2. In the new iTunes Apps folder change the names of all applications that have a (space 1) suffix in their name, to just the name of the application, e. g. VelaClock 1.ipa becomes VelaClock.ipa.
3. In your User folder, go to Music, iTunes, Mobile Applications. Option-drag all apps to a different new backup folder on the desktop. This is a backup.
4. Put the original Mobile Applications folder (in your user folder) into list view; you will see some duplicate applications that have suffixes like e.g. VelaClock 1.ipa, VelaClock 2.ipa etc. Delete all the old versions, and rename the newest version to VelaClock.ipa. Do this for every application that has a duplicate.
5. In iTunes, under Devices, select your phone and under the Applications TAB (not folder) deselect the updated applications and sync. This will remove the apps from your phone.
6. In iTunes, in the Applications folder in the Library, select all apps and put them in the trash.
7. Option-drag all applications from the iTunes Apps folder (some of which you have renamed) back into the Applications folder in the iTunes Library. They will be copied with generic icons, and then will change to have the proper individual icons.
8. In iTunes, under Devices, select your phone, and make sure the Applications TAB has checkmarks beside all applications.
9. Perform a sync by checking the Apply button at the bottom the page. All of your applications should now be updated.
