macbook won't connect to verizon fios

I'm sure this is a question that comes up regularly... I've never had an issue connecting to any other wireless signal via airport in my macbook. I just moved home and we have fios here and I have never been able to get it to work. The signal is strong and it connects but safari (and firefox) keep telling me I am not connected to the internet. When I try to run diagnostics it won't work. I'm not sure what to do. It does connect via ethernet beautifully but I would like to be able to move around freely in my house! 🙂 Thanks for any help...

Have you checked for wireless interference? Changed the wireless channel, etc?

I have. I also own a dell that connects wirelessly with no issues. There is also a desktop that can connect wirelessly fine as well. Through all the research I've done I THINK it has something to do with the type of router verizon gives the customers (D-link) and I know there are ways to make it work with the macbook but I'm not all that good at figuring it out without step-by-step directions haha. 🙂

Interestingly, on a Titanium G4 running OS 10.4.11, my wireless connection via FiOS router worked fine until last weekend. Suddenly, I cannot obtain an IP address even though I am logged in to the FiOS router, the signal is strong, and the router settings are appropriate; in fact another Mac notebook in the house connects wirelessly just fine.
I have rebooted, reset PRAM, and repaired permissions without success. I am online now through my Airport Extreme wireless (whose signal is weaker, which is why I was using the FiOS wireless instead... on a different channel).
