You might be able to just but the upgrade version for the MAC. I had Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 for the PC and I also just upgraded to an IMAC. I was able to just purchase the upgrade version of Acrobat Pro 9. I signed into there website and it knew I had registered ver. 8.

Another option, at least for the near term, is to use bootcamp, install Windows and run the suite there until you can get the money together to buy the suite. That is what I had to do as it is a chunk of change to buy the whole suite.
I've used Macs for 23 years and have suffered PCs at work for a similar period. Whilst I love my Mac, there are still times I feel cheated with its abilities compared to PCs. My very recent experience with the Adobe CS3 suite is a case in point.
I purchased a new copy of Mac Office 2008 and a new copy of CS3 Web Premium. I was totally shocked (read 'p ssd off') to discover that with this Mac software it is not possible to convert a Word document into pdf using Acrobat Professional 8 whilst maintaining active links in the table of contents and also consistently preserving all the hyperlinks. The PC versions of this software have always been able to do this without any problem.

Raymond, what you want is a "crossgrade" and Adobe does offer them.
Here are two links I found on the issue. I have never done it myself but have photographer friends who have.

Well ****, that would have saved me $1500. Guess I should have done a bit more research before committing the money. Grrrr
Hi !
I have a brand new iMac (first, I don't understand why it is OS 10.5.2 and not the latest version 10.5.4, do I have to upgrade to it myself ?) and I just installed the *CS3 version of the Adobe suite Design Premium*. Then I discovered it requires this to run : a *PowerPC G4* or G5 or *Intel multicore* Processor.
Is the *Intel multicore processor* related to my *Intel Core 2 Duo* ?
Can someone tell me if this is bad ? I mean, if it allows me to run like 2 softwares instead of 4 or 5, so be it. But I don't want it to bug or crash my Mac. And if it's working a little slower than it should be, as long as it's running, I'm fine with it.
The brand new iMac and the newest version of Adobe softwares are investment for my business (I work in graphic design). I really need it to run ! 🙂
*Please help ! Thanks !*

You'll be fine with iMac and CS3 the Intel Core 2 duo is a multi-core processor. I run the Master collection on mine with no issues, I do recommend you max out the RAM to 4 gigs though if you have not already done so. It will run with 2 but you'll be much happier with 4.
As for the OS issues just run the apple update and let it update itself. It's not uncommon to have a slightly older version of an OS when you buy a computer. Several updates can (and usually do) appear from the time the OS is installed at the factory until you buy it at your local store.
