Apple messed up the "clicker" settings!!!

On my old iPod mini under "settings" there was an option called "clicker", then the options were "on, off, speaker, headphones, all". I had it set to "all" so I could hear the click wheel sound while I used the iPod in my car as well as when I take it to the gym with my headphones.

Well, now with this new iPod, that isnt possible because the only options they have for the "clicker" setting is "on, off". So, now the click noise only comes from the iPod unit itself & NOT ANY OUTSIDE SOURCES. That means you cant hear the clicks using your headphones, in your car, etc.

Does anyone else see the big problem with this?? How could they leave that off???

They simplified it. Instead of on while..blah blah blah, or Off unless it's the second tuesday...blah blah blah. Now you just either have it on, or off. I think it makes perectly good sense to make that more simple. Afterall Apple is all about making things work easy. Why have so many choices for a simple "click". You either want to hear it or you dont.

It's just Apple simplying something that was too complicated IMO. Makes perfect sense to me.

I like my iPod; however, it is virtually featureless as it is. I do not see how removing features is an improvement. Perhaps they should ask consumers about adding or removing features before they surprise us. Its easy to give consumers something, but painfull to take stuff away - this is a simple priciple..and really, other companies list in detail what updates and the changes do or will be; however, Apple really does not seem to make an effort to communicate these things openly. I paid some good cash for my iPod, I just really wish they would make me feel like I'm in the loop

Exactly!

OK, I just did a test on the clicking noises & here is what I found:

-The click noise is MUCH softer sounding when listening through headphones. The volume is so low you almost dont hear it.

-This is a biggie. Its true that if you pause the music & go through the menu, you will hear the click in your headphones, but you WILL NOT hear the click in the headphones while hitting the "forward" button to change songs. ***?

Why couldnt they leave it alone? It was perfect before.

What about when you are in the gym & the iPod isnt "right in front of you". Its good to actually hear when your iPod has executed a command you have given it by the clicking noise.

This isnt a deal breaker for me at all, but its a pretty big annoyance. I hope they change it with an update soon. Other than that, this iPod rocks!
