I've been getting the following "iTunes is not availabe" on both iPhones since last night. Message is displayed when checking for updates. I can access categories no problem, but have not tried to download anything.
iMac, MBP, 1st Gen iPhone 2.0.2,
Mac OS X (10.5.4)
I've noticed this only for the update selection on my iPhone's App center, and yep, it's been 2 days now. There is a thread that suggests rather then updating that particular selection as an iTunes Upgrade, they have chosen to pull that option down entirely. If true, I am frustrated that they never bothered to inform anyone of this in advance. So much for their showing of gratitude for their faithful customers. Even Bill Gates understands that!
thanks for the replies guys. I wonder if it's location specific? I just called my brother in TX and he can connect no problems. It tells him everything is up to date. Both my phones have only been like this since last night.
Same thing here in Miami. No connection to the Application upgrades on my iPhone and the same on my Macs. Everything appears to be working except I can't check for upgrades to apps. Weird.
I was working fine yesterday. Today the iPhone says it can't connect, and iTunes Desktop gives no reply. Click on the update apps link and not even a progress bar on the desktop app.
Again, this is just for checking on updates, although moving through some links in the store i occasionally get a network error.
I think it has something to do with changes made to iTunes Connect yesterday. If you go to the app store in iTunes, then click "All iPhone Applications" you'll see that there have been none approved today, and only 10 approved yesterday. Usually there are around 60 + approved per day.
It seems to me that any app added or updated after the changes were made to iTunes Connect yesterday will cause the 5002 error. So if you try to load a page with one of these apps on it, it'll give this error (eg: try searching "dictaphone")
That's my theory anyway. Apple please fix this! Everyone I've checked with can reproduce this consistiently.
