My airport card disappeared?

Was at the pub, got a strange IP error message, started looking at the settings, stopped, went home, checked the numbers, internet w a hardline works fine, when I open up airport setup assistant it says there's no card and won't let me turn it on.

MacBook Pro 2.33 Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Have you checked System Profiler>Network>Airport Card?

Yes, the system profiler sees the card. Airport Setup Assistant doesn't.

Yes. Disk Utility. Verify and repair. All clean.

Launch Internet Connect. Do you see the Airport icon? Airport Setup Assistant is used to setup your airport base station.

Where is "Internet Connect?"

Nothing with that name appears to be on my hd.

I tried starting in safe mode then restarting normally. No change.

Then you will need to reinstall it from your OS installer disk. You may need Pacifist to extract it.

Internet Connect is a Tiger thing, sig. Brockman is using Leopard.

The same functions are now found in "System preferences / Network" in Leopard.

So Pacifist won't be any use here.

First step is to head to System Preferences / Network and see what the airport settings are.

Network settings says Airport is off, and It won't let me turn it on. Now what? Do I go through all those Advanced settings? I don't really know what they mean.
