Creating/Burning DVD Disk Images

I'm trying to backup a (commercial) language instruction DVD that my 2-year-old daughter uses (and scratches) often.

I ripped it to my hard drive with MacTheRipper and DVD Player is able to play the resulting VIDEO_TS folder. So, far, so good.

Now, I need to burn a DVD of the ripped files.

What software do you recommend for creating the DVD disc image and burning it to a DVD?

Thanks.

iMac G5 20" flat screen (w/o camera), Mac OS X (10.5.4), 2 GB RAM

Hi Jill:
You might try to the convert command in disk utility and convert the iso you made to a .cdr image
before burning it.

I also discovered in Disk Utility, although I couldn't find any help documentation about it, that you
can create a hybrid dvd from a folder. Open Disk Utility > File > New > disk image from folder >
select the folder you want to use > image > image format > hybrid image > save. It creates a
hybrid disk image containing your folder(s). I assume you would then convert it to a .cdr image
before burning to make a DVD.

It is a read only image though, so you would need to add all files and folders before making the image.

If you tinker with this, please post back the results.

I agree with Király. I think it's the simplest solution if all that you want is to burn a DVD that's watchable on TV. The "disk image" part is not necessary.

So follow those instructions and be happy.

Just remember to drag both the audio and video _TS folders to the mounted DVD: the audio folder may be "empty", but may cause problems if is not included.

And check the capacity of the DVD to be burned. These days more and more content are provided on double-layer (DL) DVDs, so you'd want to act accordingly. There's a small arrow in the lower right corner of the burn window that is informative about this.

Nello, try [DVD2oneX2|http://www.dvd2one.com], it's also known as DTOX. I assure you it's one of the best DVD compressors/imagers you can find.
You'll need MTRs output or any VIDEO_TS folders. You'll be surprised at the speed with which it works.
The other posters here have all put forward very useful suggestions, but I feel this one will give you a one stop shop that'll do what you're after. It's not free but the best things in life rarely are.
