Just want to register my claim in this forum, I have a 32bit MBP 2.0Ghz core duo ATI x1600 and I am having problems most similar to the following:
http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/1881/picture2uh8.png
http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/9100/picture12oe2.png
http://img381.imageshack.us/img381/3382/picture123sp6.png

It occurs when the MBP is running hot. I am not sure what course of action I will take from here but this is a start. So far I am just letting it cool down to resume operation.

I have the same problems. Lines of pixels across app windows and machine freezes. I am using a 30 inch cinema display and I am glad to see from this thread that the problem seems to be with the MBP rather than the display, since I can at least consider using the display with another machine.

I think the images you post here are the display/GPU issues that most people subscribing to this thread are interested in finding an answer to and making apple aware that this problem arises from a manufacturing/hardware issue that in no way has been avoidable by usage patterns.

It is a purely and simply a flaw in the MBP design on MBP's with ATI Radeon x1600 graphics cards.

Apple are yet to address this problem, they appear to be ignoring it. So remember to send your feedback to apple about this issue your having.

This issue with the ATI graphics card is, i think we will all agree is unacceptable.

Having had terrible lockups during video playback, distorted screen text, freezes on my favourite game (eve online) I tried hardware check, wiping the disk and reinstalling, no joy 😟

so installed SMCfancontrol, and found that only by setting almost max rpm as minimum fan speed (4000-6000rpm) could I avoid lockup when gaming.

+But I can't recommend it for regular usage+ - I can't imagine the fans are designed to run continuously at such speeds (besides the fact that it is very noisy)

Remember to vent your spleen about this issue here
http://www.apple.com/feedback/macbookpro.html
when smcFanControl will no longer suffice in resolving the problem, as some of us know that will be your eventual outcome

Im starting to get freezes now when i use my MBP and Audio Hijack when i plug my guitar in.....thats a new one for me. No Video no heavy graphics programs, just Audio HiJack.......

I am sending this issue to several sites and hope someone will pick it up and maybe get some pull with apple. It's been several months, this is clearly an issue with many occurrences and they should have addressed it already.

Sended it to macfixit, appleinsider and macrumors. If anyone thinks of other sites I will gladly report there as well.
