I have just purchased a dictionary application for my iPhone and also downloaded a free Wikipedia program. The applications show up on my computer and on my iPhone. When I open the applications, the go to the home page (on Wikipedia) and a black blank page (on the dictionary program), stay open for 1 second, then disappear back to the iPhone main screen. When my husband hooked up his iPhone to my computer, the downloaded onto his iPhone and work perfectly! I tried to purchase the dictionary program again (and download the free Wikipedia program again). The iTunes store keeps informing me that I purchased them already and asks if I want to download them for free again. Trying this several times has not worked. What can I do?
All my downloaded apps stopped working so I:
- connected my iPhone to my computer.
- turned off the sync (actually, I've turned off all the sync functions between all my iTunes and iPhone applications - I don't trust it).
- deleted the apps from iTunes.
- ejected my iPhone.
- deleted all the apps from the phone (I tried them and they still didn't work).
- reloaded all the apps.
Then they started working again. I seem to have a sync problem...I have the latest version of iTunes.
as far as sync goes, it's all manual for me for now...and i tried all that reseting stuff and it didn't work either. However, when I de-sync'd my phone, it sent diagnostic info to Apple.
Tim is right. Just got my iPhone 3G last week and running OS 2.2.1. All my downloaded apps stopped working about an hour ago. Downloaded a new one, and now they are all working again.
Anyone know why this happens or how to prevent it?
There seem to be various unanswered threads from this past summer up through today regarding applications not working. iPhone 3G, purchased yesterday...downloaded several applications. They worked this morning, updated the iPhone with the last software update (2.2.1) and all of the applications stopped working. The behavior is double click the application, phone attempts to do something and then returns to the home page.
I downloaded a new application (free), synced the phone and they began working again.
Thank goodness this solution worked. The other options looked significantly more time consuming.
New iPhone. All apps previously worked after downloading them from iPhone. Stopped working, showed up for 1-2 seconds, then back to menu. Solution: Downloaded a new app. from iTunes on my iMac and they all worked. Deleted the app that I downloaded and they still work. So far.
That "fix" is hilarious. The bug with the apps not opening happened to me today, after I disconnected my iPhone from my mac without first "ejecting" it from iTunes. I think unplugging it might corrupt some setting...
