streaming video problems: keeps buffering

When I watch video from certain websites, like the daily show where I frequently attempt to do this, every 10 seconds or so the video freezes for about 10-20 seconds to buffer. (This generally does not happen on youtube). I've tried Safari, Firefox, and also in Parallels with Internet Explorer. They all do the same thing. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Or is it a problem on the daily show website rather than something that can be adjusted on my computer?

Welcome to the forums , interpellateme, sstan and satx. Worrying to see three first time posters all experiencing the same issue in their first posts.

You will find, though, that if you really need help here it works much better if you provide a bit more information than you have all done in your respective first posts here, rather than simply saying "me too", especially when issues relating to internet performance are involved.

I see you all say you are having problems with the same shows. Perhaps the most likely answer is that the relevant feed is having problems to whatever country (countries?) you happen to be living in? (and heh! We could at least take a stab at guessing where you might be if you used names rather than letters as your IDs, though indicating your location would make such things even easier to resolve)? Perhaps you don't have internet facilities able to cope with the demands of streaming in your country(ies)?

Perhaps you are all using an ISP who is having temporary difficulties with bandwidth for some reason?

Most issues of this kind come down to ISP issues or the like, especially when you each indicate you are using different hardware and different OS versions .

As I said in another post in this thread, we are having none of these problems with these programs with a range of hardware running a range of OS versions over here in Australia. The same shows stream fine under Tiger on an iMac G5, Leopard on MacBooks, and Snow Leopard on MacBook Pros running over an Airport network through an ADSL connection .

If you can provide more substantial information it might be possible to resolve your problems (that is what the forums are here for after all) , but at present, given the very, very little information you have provided, it is hard to do more than suggest that you ring your local ISP helpline to see if they can be of assistance to each or any of you. By far the most likely answer, if the information you have each provided is correct, is that that is where the problem really lies.

Cheers

I know this a really old post but I am having the exact same issue in 2014. I'm in California(Ventura) and have been unable to watch Dailty show or Colbert Report on my macbook pro without severe buffering interuption.

I can rule out the wifi signal being a problem becasue I can stream netflix, hulu and youtube etc perfectly fine without any speed issues. I have also checked to see if my friend can watch these two shows on his PC through the same wifi.....yes he can with no buffering problems?

I have also just updated adobe flash...

SO what's the deal?
