Itunes 8 - Connecting Ipod cause Blue Screen on Vista

I just installed itunes 8 over my itunes 7 on Vista.

Now whenever I plug in my ipod nano, I get a blue screen death. 3 times so far. even if it is plugged in on boot, I get a blue screen.

Before itunes 8 I never seen a blue screen with vista since it came out.

I am running Logitech setpoint and Norton Antivirus. Out of curiosity, is there anyone who does not have Logitech setpoint software, or Norton Antivirus and still having these problems?

I don't have anything to do with Logitech nor do I use Norton yet I'm still having the problem.

Having the same problem. I am able to connect and sync my ipod but if I connect my iphone I get a blue screen and the computer reboots. The driver that is crashing is usbaapl64.sys.

Same here, no problems connecting my ipod, but the 3G phone goes to blue screen. Problem with usbaapl.sys.

Just ran a system restore to get things working again. Guess I will be using 7.7.1.11 until a fix is available. Hope that the iphone FW update will be available with older versions of iTunes.

Yep, same here. I have iTunes 8 for Vista x64 and as soon as I attach an iPhone with 1.1.4 firmware, blue screen death. I don't have antivirus software, Logitech Setpoint or any other software. Never had ANY blue screen crashes - including with iTunes 7 - until installing iTunes 8. Obviously, all signs point to a serious bug with iTunes 8. As usual, Apple's quality control is top notch.

I was hoping for the same thing, but it isn't. iTunes forces you to upgrade to version 8 before downloading the firmware for you.

So now, not only can we not use the new iTunes 8, we can't upgrade to 2.1 either.

To the best of my knowledge, Service Pack 1 is not required for iTunes. It's just that it doesn't hurt to be up with the latest from Microsoft when you start to have driver conflict problems.
