RICOH Aficio MP C2500

I have spent hours and hours over the past month trying to print to the RICOH Aficio MP C2500 at work from my new MacBook Pro... without any luck. The most I've been able to print is blank pages and a bunch of garbage.

I tried using the PPD Installer on RICOH's support website ( http://support.ricoh.com/bb/html/drut_e/ra/model/e_3000/e3000en.htm) about a month ago and was still unable to print. I tried again today (in desperation) but got an error about needing to be the administrator or having higher level privileges when trying to run the installer. I repaired my disk permissions, but I still got the error when trying to run the installer. I tried PDDs from openprint and other sites, as well as various different settings in my system preferences.

Most of the time I just end up using my old PC laptop instead. No problem at all hooking that up... just type in the IP address. I want to make the switch to Mac, but it's not as easy as they make it sound.

Here is an update for everyone; I just spent a fair bit of time getting this to work for my spouse's workplace. Our OS is 10.5.6 and the printer is attached via ethernet network.

Leopard COMES with an old PPD driver for this printer. You need to first delete the file "/Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/RICOH Aficio MP C2500.gz"

NEXT, Download and install the "PPD Installer" under the heading "Mac OS X v10.5 or later"

NOW add the printer via "System Preferences". When adding the printer, it was important to use "JetDirect - Socket" as the connection option. IPP printing failed to detect the attached finisher, and LPD refused to print in color. With JetDirect, the printer was automatically recognized and configured.

Also, at the workplace the printer was configured to NOT print in color unless your account information was entered under "Job Options" when printing. Your milage may vary, here.

Anyway - I just thought it might help anyone having problems.

I would like to thank Matt Broughton, for he has just saved me $500.
Am just amazed how much one can do without spending money.
I was actually asked $500 by my Printer Guy for him to install a PostScript module in my Ricoh 2015 printer to get Mac support.
Now with Matt's suggestion it works like a charm.
How did you come to know of this... Anyways... Thanks a ton man.
